color ring around exercise

This was very eye opening! I always tend to do the same kinds of color editing when I go into my photos, and so it's nice to have this grid to sort of open my eyes to other editing styles. It's interesting how much can change off of something so sensitive as subtle color shifts. This has definitely caused me to want to experiment more in editing styles, and that I can change the perception of my viewer just off of color adjustment.

assignment 3 (top 40, rough files).
This contact sheet is for project 3, these photos are my top 40 of what I shot for the project (so far), and they are all lightly edited in Camera Raw. (The bottom 5 are the ones that are top rated)

old/new work.
It's hard for me to pinpoint what would best represent old work of mine because I've been into photography for over 6 years now, so here's a taste of what I've done previously to this class.
Portrait work is my favorite, but I'm also into exploring other dimensions of landscape, and also the relationship between people and subjects.

This is from a wedding I shot in 2009, digital.

while driving (a lot of ideas come to me while driving, dangerous!!), 2010, digital.

2008, when I began a project on blur (ongoing). Digital.

2009, interested in how text works with photographs. Digital.

2010, darkroom print.

2009, Obama Rally.

2010, portrait shoot.

2011, engagement shoot.
What I hope to get more into in this class perhaps, or at least the future, is fashion photography. It's always fascinated me. And work that has to do with posing really fascinates me as well, and something that's challenging for me as a photography.

the basics.
Ashley Dawn Parsons
Photography Major.
Junior.
Raised in Tualatin, Oregon.
Currently in Eugene, Oregon.

My goal for this course is to essentially just learn more of the technical aspects that go along with digital photography. So much of my life is centered around making images that I just want to know as much as I can about this medium in terms of technical tactics, aesthetics, creativity, conceptual bounds; all of it. I want to learn how to capture more of what I see through the means of a digital photograph, and make it come alive to the viewer.
A lot of my personal work is primarily digital but I feel like I have a lot of loopholes in my own work when it comes to that digital spectrum we call the editing process. Whether it be incorrect color editing, incorrect sizing while shooting, not knowing how to make a quality digital print, noisy photos, not knowing how to edit in RAW, overexposure, underexposure, etc, I just seem to not know how to fix it. I feel like I'm almost there on a lot of techniques with digital photography, I just have a lot to learn in all of the aspects I listed above. I tend to focus more on the art of taking the photos rather than the aftermath of editing, printing, and showing and I just hope to improve in all of those areas.
